"The Response" to be screened for Members of Congress

This blog is intended to help constituents of congressional districts across the country communicate with their Congressmen, as a unique film -- The Response -- is screened for House members.

Expected screening date is early 2010.

The Response has been short-listed for the Academy Award - chosen as one of only ten semi-finalists for the Oscar for Best Short Film (Live Action).

The film is a courtroom drama based on the actual transcripts of the Guantanamo Bay military tribunals [officially known as the Combatant Status Review Tribunals]. Conceived in the vein of "12 Angry Men", the film revolves around the trial of a suspected enemy combatant and the military judges who must decide his fate. The film stars Aasif Mandvi ("The Daily Show"), Kate Mulgrew ("Star Trek: Voyager") and Peter Riegert ("Animal House," "The Sopranos"). Awarded the 2009 ABA Silver Gavel for Drama & Literature, the movie has been screened at the Pentagon and the Dept of Justice.
